Sopan 2019, Festival for young artists held in New Delhi
On February 1,2019,The 6-day long music and dance festival to encourage young artists to take up traditional art took place in New Delhi. 
i. It was Organised by Sahitya Kala Parishad and the New Delhi government, in partnership with New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).

Kerala became the first State  set up a price monitoring and research unit (PMRU)
On February 3,2019,Kerala became the first state to set up price monitoring and research unit (PMRU) to track violation of prices of essential drugs and medical devices.
i. The new watchdog will offer technical help to the State Drug Controllers  to monitor notified prices of medicines, detect violation of the provisions of the Drugs Price Control Order (DPCO).

Government notifies Rules to allow women to work in mines
Ministry of Union Labour and Employment on 4th Feb has allowed women to work in mines, both in opencast and underground, during the day and night, as part of the efforts to build more opportunities for women. This decision has been taken, in line with the recommendations of the section 12 committee constituted under Mines act, 1952.

5-Member Committee to Promote Dairy Farming was set up by Punjab to Boost Farmers Income
On 5th February 2019, Punjab government headed by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh decided to constitute a 5 members high-powered committee to prepare a comprehensive action plan for boosting the dairy sector with the aim of supplementing the income of farmers in a result-oriented manner.

Global warming’s impact on El Nino in 2019  
El Nino is a climatic chain characterized by high air pressure in the Western Pacific and low air pressure in the eastern.
i. El Nino occurs once in every 15 years and results in heavy drought, flood ,dust and snow storm resulting in million of dollar loss to the public in Tropical Pacific region
ii. According to certain reports,El Nino is forecasted to give a rise in vector-borne diseases, including those spread by mosquitoes, in Central and South America.And Drought caused by El Nino can be widespread, affecting southern Africa, India, Southeast Asia, Australia, and the Pacific Islands

On 2nd February 2019,Iran Unveiled its Long Range Cruise Surface to Surface Missile,named Hoveizeh with a Strike range of 1,300 km (800 miles) to mark the remembrance of 1979 Islamic Revolution Anniversary.

On January 31,2019,ECA international survey,which surveyed almost 480 location overall in a year  declaredSingapore to be the most liveable location for Asian Expatriates for the 14th consecutive year.

ODI series: India clinched the 5 match ODI series against New Zealand by 4-1
On 2nd February 2019, India defeated New Zealand in fifth One Day International (ODI) match held at Wellington in New Zealand by 35 runs to clinch the five-match series 4-1.
